Description

Alternate Realities … do they exist? I believe they do, at least they do in my Imagination. My Imagination IS an Alternate Reality.

The House of Alternate Realities began as an experiment. Armed with a garden shear, I cut up a piece of recycle copper and proceeded to anneal it on my kitchen stove. After which I shaped it into a little house, origami style with no soldering. I wanted to make something with it but did not have a theme. Imagination took over, and I ended up with the House of Alternate Reality.

This mixed media necklace is fore mostly, made up of a little copper house augmented by fire. Gauze and old lace symbolize a place of nesting … the nesting of ideas. These ideas are ‘Secrets’ only known to one. 16/18 gauge brass wires twisted and knotted to create brainstorms and perhaps conduits to travel to an Alternate Reality. The handmade miniature book with coffee stained pages can be released from its catch, but is secured to the house by a chain. Within the book could be secret codes, if unraveled, would take you to a different place and time. Or perhaps, its blank pages could be a safe place for YOUR secrets instead? A wired and resin-ed heart hangs off the house … follow your heart and find your reality. A piece of faceted garnet attached to one side of the ‘conduit’ is the source of energy needed to fuel you into your Alternate Reality … for Garnet, is Fire. And Fire, is Power.

** the necklace is 24 inches in circumference, but can be shortened to 21 inches. Just ask.

** the pendant is 3.25 inches from roof to heart
